I, uh, I hate to tell you this, but the Orphanage is closed right now. It’s after hours…obviously, but you’re welcome to come back any time…during business hours. {John was focused on his work, not looking up from the paperwork he was flipping through and rubbing at one eye, the bags dark beneath them from lack of sleep.}

Hmm…
*Pete’s looks over the man before dropping to the ground and softly clearing his throat.*
Overly friendly, filled with so much hope he makes a carebear look depressed… You must be Gotham.
{John can’t help the grin from appearing on his face at the ‘carebear’ comment and watched as the strange man jumped to the ground.}
Is it that obvious?

[ Natasha gave him a faint smile and shut the door after he entered. The sound of a locking mechanism gave a soft click before she walked over to the couch where she was sitting. She created a nest of blankets and pillows to support all the aching parts of her body at that moment. ]
She’s fine.
{John followed her to the couch without any provocation, sitting down next to her and letting his sore body relax into the couch with a sigh. He let his head fall back, and his eyes close for a brief moment before turning to her with a raised brow.}
You gonna tell me what happened?

New guy!
{John blinks at the guy in front of him in silence before letting out a sigh and shaking his head}
This is why I don’t come to New York.

[ Natasha didn’t expect his arrival that quickly, nor did she mind it so much. She pushed herself up from the couch and walked over to the door. She usually came here when she wanted to get away from everyone and have a bit of silence. Usually she held most of her meetings and interactions with others here, but every night she wound up back at Tony’s.
She opened the door and looked at him with a small smile. ]
Hi.
{It’d been far too long since he’d last seen her, but apparently it was long enough for her to start showing. Distracted from the main reason he’d come there, he felt a soft smile curl about his lips as he looked at her stomach before meeting her eyes.}
Hey.
{He didn’t wait to be invited in, moving around her and looking around as he pulled off his jacket and tossed it on the back of a nearby chair}
So how’s the planet growing inside of you?

“And to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from a fine stranger such as yerself?”
I know there’s sarcasm in there, just not quite sure which part, exactly.

{John simply looked at her last text and let out a snort, rolling his eyes and slipping his phone back into his pocket. He was already heading down into the basement, having just gotten off of patrol when he’d thought to text her, and it didn’t take him long to get the bike out of storage and out on the road. Taking the shortcuts Wayne’s system was kind enough to give him, it didn’t take long for him to reach Natasha’s apartment in New York. Making sure to park in an alley, the bike disappearing into the shadows, he made his way up to her apartment door and knocked on it, his free hand tugging through his hair to try and smooth down the wayward strands.}
